Day 4: I beat Factions!

What...?

Oh yeah, I mostly played my main today. It was crazy, because I was 'stuck' in the middle of the Factions campaign on my Mesmer, as I probably noted in an earlier post... and after not playing for like a year, I come on and kick major ass and finish it in a few hours. I'm glad to finally say I have one character that has been through all campaigns.

What I was most proud of during that time was my 2:36 solo of Unwaking Waters. I just couldn't believe it - I thought I was just going to epic fail that attempt.

They had to have had nerfed these missions, or something. Either that or I just remember them being more difficult than they really were. I will admit though, I paid for a run to kill Shiro because I was just so tired and wanted to take a break - but really wanted to get it done.

Anyway - after beating Factions on my Mesmer I went onto the Ranger you guys are following, but I didn't put too much play time in. I just walked around, killing things, trying to level. That was a great idea, because look what dropped:

(Sometimes I just get too excited about dye drops. lol)

So today, my achievements were:

1. Beat Factions (on my main)
2. 2 Dye drops
3. Leveled to level 7

Thanks for reading!

Day 3: I'm not feeling all that legendary today

I was grinding on monsters and completing random quests today and I just above gave up. The only thing that deterred me from handing in the 10~ quests I have sitting in my quest log is the fact that I would have to travel all around just to do so. I was actually surprised today, because I ended up in a place in presearing where I've never been to before. I was actually a bit shocked because I have a permanent presearing character and I thought I looked everywhere. Of course, idiot me forgot to take note of where it was - so if you guys know where this is please jog my memory.

Shortly after I got to level 5, I die. This is what happens when I'm not paying attention to my health. Oh well - the bright side is that it took me to a shrine right next to where I was going anyway, so when that was discovered I wasn't all that annoyed. It lead me to obtain my first pet, which will hopefully assist me in later levels and when I fight the Charr (and remember my secondary GW account so I can get over the wall without harassing other players for assistance.) I named my pet "Buddy." Cute, I think.

I then ended up in my favorite outpost in presearing, Barradin Estate. Taking a break from actually playing the game but still remaining logged in, I decided to rediscover the emotes.

I'm in a dilemma, though. My account is linked to my old guild that my friend and I had put together when we use to play together back in 2007. He hasn't logged on for a year, and his girlfriend hasn't for two. I really have no interest in trying to build up a guild, but I would like to be in a more established one. Casual, of course. I don't like PvP in this game. Although, leaving the guild would pretty much flush all memories of this game I had down the drain. I think I'll just park myself in that guild for now and if the opportunity arises in the future for me to join a more established group of players, I'll take the leap of faith and just leave it.

I managed to play some more today. This time I got the rest of the Krytan set.

I grinded to level 6 and on my way to complete a quest a yellow dye dropped!

So today, my achievements were:

1. Full Krytan set
2. Leveled to level 6
3. Got a pet

Cya for day 4!

Day 2: Legendary Defender of Ascalon? Hah.

Yeah, top that with me trying to get the Legendary Defender of Ascalon title? Not gonna happen... but let's try though! What a great way to start off the game to be bestowed this prestigious honor. lol

The first thing I did was type /bonus to get these cool bows:

I then headed to collect some quests to get some skills, but since I'm going to "try" to get to level 20 in presearing I'm going to save the ones I don't have to turn in right away in order to hand them in at a later date.

I haven't really put much thought into my secondary character, but that's okay since I'll have done all of the quests and need to hand them all in at a higher level (is that how it works?). I started with the Necromancer quests, which led me to the catacombs. I guess it's an alright place to start playing, but I hate this place because I always get lost. I'm actually trying to get to another exit to get to the level 3 monsters to fight them and level, so naturally I spent the majority of my time trying to find my way out.

AAAND my first dye drop! It's green. What are the drop rates for dye in pre searing now? The same? Lower? Higher? I'd like to know.

I finally made it out of the Catacombs to where I wanted to be. I ended up grinding to level 3, but got side tracked farming for Icy Lodestones to get the better gloves, which brought me to level 4.

Here's a summary of what I did today:

1. Got to level 4
2. Completed Necromancer and Elementalist quests along with the Bear Pelt one
3. Obtained Krytan Gloves

Not very exciting but good enough for me. Thanks for stopping by!

Day 1: Who am I?

Welcome to my "Nine Plays Through Guild Wars" Project. Where I will be playing Guild Wars starting from square one, throughout the whole vast game, updating and sharing my experiences along the way.

Here is a short history, the reason why I'm playing, and then I'm going to jump right into this project!

A few years ago, around the release of Nightfall to pin-point a more specific date, I was obsessed with Guild Wars. Then, Eye of the North was released and after I plowed through that, I was done. I had about 8 characters I was focusing on, 3 were considered my mains though my Mesmer turned out to be my signature character.

Now, awaiting the release of Guild Wars 2, I thought it would be appropriate to play the game again, but this time start from square one. Mainly, I'm doing this because I basically forgot how to play in the time of my absence. Secondly, I think it would just be straight up fun.

There are no set rules to how I'm suppose to play. The only thing I won't be doing is supporting my character by supplying it funds or items from my established characters (though I will utilize bonus items).

Okay, now let's start!

Day 1: Who am I?

When I use to play, my main characters were my Mesmer, Warrior and Ritualist. My Mesmer has completed all the expansions except for Factions (try finding a group that wants a Mesmer, to go through some obscure Factions mission today - let alone a couple years ago!). He has the Obsidian Jacket from the Fissure of Woe. That's the extent of my glory in Guild Wars, so don't think I'm some great and awesome player haha. My Ritualist has completed Factions and my Warrior is (or was?) fun because I use to farm the Trolls in the cave found outside that place I can't remember the name of anymore.

All together, I have the following characters:
2 Mesmers
1 Elementalist
1 Assassin
1 Warrior
1 Monk
1 Paragon
1 Dervish
2 Rangers

Nothing special really out of the ones I haven't mentioned. The Rangers aren't that great - one is my pre-searing character, whom will never leave - and the other one is stuck in Cantha never to venture out. I have no Necromancer as you may notice... I had one that I got to level 20, but they never really appealed to me at all so I deleted it in favor of another character.

Here are a few shots of my main three guys :
(More of these will appear in the future)

So. Let's get to this. I'm making a Ranger. Why? It's the only class I haven't played through to level 20.

I'm starting in Prophecies, and I'm going to go in order from Prophecies, to Factions, to Nightfall then to Eye of the North.

Just to side track, here is what I thought of each game back in the 'day':
Prophecies : The originals always the best but too slow paced.
Factions : Underated, fun but annoying to play since it's always dead.
Nightfall : Unnecessarily difficult but best missions out of the three.
Eye of the North : Nice way to tie story but the worst of the four.

So, the character creation.

Nice way to start off playing the game. I'm the kind of person who obsesses over their in game avatar looks but this combination is fine for me. Now, a name. Luckily I thought about it before and picked "Bruno Giordano" but if I just began to think about it now, it would have taken me forever.

I arrive in Ascalon and what do I first see?
Photobucket

A jumble of characters. Then?

Some idiot at 1:00am dancing.

So, that will be it for Day 1. Day 2 will come tomorrow. I hope to update every day, but sometimes I won't get the chance to play every day... but, I definitely will post every time I do play! Thanks for stopping by!

(Sorry for the images being linked to Photobucket - I'm going to get a better way to display photos for Day 2.)
